Well, I'm a 27 year old cyclist originally from South Plainfield, NJ and now living in Chicago, IL where I work the days away as a User Interface Engineer with Orbitz.com.
Biking History
I first learned to ride a bike around age 7 or 8 (who can remember that long ago) on a black and yellow hand me down from my older brother. Shortly after that I got my own blue and white Trek and was off and pedaling... as far as the corner of the block since that's about as far as my parents would let me go at the time.
Around 14 and 15 I really fell in love with cycling as I was too young to drive, but desperately craved the freedom to explore without parental supervision. This drive, along with a new 18 speed Trek hybrid (thanks Mom and Dad for that one) with a water bottle, and I was off spending most of my summer days riding to numerous malls (NJ loves their malls) and discovering every side street along the way. Side note: sorry mom, I doubt you knew about that to this day. When the parental figures were around though, I usually ended up doing a mile and a quarter loops around Spring Lake Park.
After graduating college I decided to make the plunge into the world of road cycling and bought a Trek 2200 as a graduation present. With that came my passion to ride longer distances as fast as I can and got me to where I am today... training to bike across the country.
My Bikes
I currently own two road bikes: a 2005 Trek 2200, and a mid 1980's steel frame Ross Fixed gear. Pictures and stats coming soon.
